Surprise surprise! Andy wins on a clay court. A very convincing win ( 6 – 4 and 6 – 3 in straight sets) against world 104 Copil means that the Scotsman progresses to round 3 with confidence. His form may be turning this year and it has to be his top form all year to maintain the number 1 spot. His head to heads against the other two of the top 3 hasn’t been very good recently. He’ll hope that a few upsets occur and not against him. Murray has had a lot of upset losses this year and many of them have been outside of the top 20. He will hope he can repeat this victory on the next few opponents and if he gets there, will have 10 times the amount if confidence against an opponent who is likely to be in form of Djokovic or Wawrinka. He will also play in Queens next month, a tournament that he has won 5 times. He will have practice against big and tough opponents there as 6 of the top 10 are going. He may have to face of against the likes of Nadal or Cilic. Nadal won this in 2012 and Cilic in 2008.
