WFL 2 October eyeopeners

Saturday 13th October – The Buds or Croesy?

Both teams are unbeaten and if it stays that way, a streak will be on the line at Aberbargoed. Though they are the only unbeaten teams in the division, they are separated by 10 points and 7 places. Creosyceiliog are top after their immense start and are on unimaginable form after defeating title favourites STM sports at the end of September. Aberbargoed are not doing to badly themselves, recording 3 wins and a draw in their opening 4 games. With the Buds having 3 games in hand on the league leaders, this match could be crucial to each side. Croesyceiliog begin October with a Friday Night game away to Aberdare. While the Buds have a test as tough as their opponents on this day as they face STM Sports this coming Saturday. If they win that one, this match will be set perfectly…

Friday 26th October –¬†Unpredictable

It’s a clash between two sides in the bottom half but you would’t say they were relegation threatened. In their first 4 matches Abergavenny Town picked up 1 point and struggled to settle into this tight WFL2 season. But in the last 2 matches, the team in 12th have got their first two wins. Last week they beat Risca United and the week before they won in this match’s reverse fixture. Their opponents – AFC Llwydcoed. Having been defeated 2 – 1 in this fixture at home, Llwydcoed will want revenge but it will be no easy ask. They are one point ahead of Abergavenny but also 2 games ahead of them and so this is a must win for them if they want to keep up with their opponents for this day. Ignoring all of that, Abergavenny have only conceded 8 goals which is the lowest in the bottom half while Llwydcoed have scored 16 so far this season, averaging 2 goals a game which is the highest in the bottom half. So it’s defence vs attack, but which one will break first?

Saturday 27th October РA loss spells trouble

In one of the last games of the month, two relegation rivals go head to head in what will surely be an essential fixture come the end of the season. Risca United have only a point so far this season and are one off the bottom after 6 games. Their fixtures have been tricky and their only point came from an impressive draw at home to current league leaders Croesyceiliog. But with poor results comes poor form and you have to worry for the ‘cuckoos’ at this point. Their opponents for this one, Dinas Powys, aren’t in a much better position themselves just 2 points above in 14th after 7 games. Unlike Risca they do have a win in their books, but adding to their 6 losses it doesn’t look too good. However when you delve deeper into their results you’ll find that their fixtures have been just as difficult as Risca’s and it seems that the challenge has helped them because they managed to defeat Bridgend Street on Saturday away from home. Could their form be changing? What about Risca, will they find some form before this important clash? We’ll find out soon.
